London, November 7, 2024: India’s Ministry of Tourism is presenting the nation’s rich cultural diversity and tourism potential at the World Tourism Market (WTM) held at Excel London from November 5 to 7, 2024. With the UK being India’s second-largest source of foreign tourists, this engagement aims to position India as a top-tier destination and draw more visitors to experience its myriad attractions. The UK also hosts 1.9 million people of Indian origin, which bolsters cultural and tourism ties between the two nations.
The Tourism Ministry has deployed a 50-member delegation at WTM 2024, including representatives from state governments, tourism bodies, airlines, and hospitality businesses. This team is tasked with showcasing India’s cultural heritage and diverse tourism offerings, from traditional and spiritual journeys to health, adventure, environmental, and culinary experiences, aiming to appeal to global travelers’ interests.
The India Pavilion at WTM emphasizes wedding tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, and the Mahakumbh Mela—a major cultural and religious festival that draws millions. The pavilion also includes sections dedicated to showcasing the vibrancy of traditional Indian weddings, a unique experience that has gained international interest as couples increasingly seek destination weddings in India.
Glimpses of India’s linguistic and cultural diversity will also be on display, underscoring the unique experiences that can be found in different regions across the country. The Ministry of Tourism is joined by several state tourism departments, public sector enterprises, and private travel management firms, all promoting India as a dynamic and welcoming destination for travelers worldwide.
India’s active participation in WTM 2024 reflects its commitment to elevating its profile as a leading global destination, inviting international visitors to explore its authentic, unforgettable, and varied tourism experiences.
