The one thing I miss the most about my life back home is my workout routine.
After an 8 hour day at work, head to the gym 3 or 4 days a week.
I stuck with this routine for about 2.5 years and made some serious progress in that time.
I’m sure my two readers (hi mom) of this post can relate to this.
Everybody knows that consistency is key with working out and staying fit,
But with life on the road and constantly moving from place to place, how do you get a good workout routine going to achieve your fitness goals?
Today I’m going to talk about how you can stay fit while travelling, no matter where you are or how long you stay in one place.
Gyms are EVERYWHERE.
There are gyms EVERYWHERE. All over the world. Doesn’t matter where, there’s always a gym.
Every location I’ve been to had a gym. Even Cambodia had a gym within walking distance to my hostel (affiliate link) in Siem Reap. (I only paid $1 USD for entry by the way)
All you have to do is google the nearest gym. It’s seriously that easy fellas. (and LAYDEES)
If you’re staying in a (decent) hotel there’s a pretty good chance it has at least a minimal gym.
I stayed at hotels in Thailand and in the Philippines that had dumbbells at least, and a full-on squat rack at best.
Seriously, it’s not that complicated.
What if there is no gym?
You don’t need one.
When I lived in a van in New Zealand for 3 months, I bought a 20kg weight set for beach-side workouts.
It was good for a short-time but not for getting shredded. Basically just muscle maintenance.
I was able to do workouts wherever and whenever I felt like it.
Even while living in a van I was able to work out. That’s true freedom. I call it, the real American Dream™
Even if you don’t have a sweet campervan with dumbbells like me you can workout anywhere, it’s called running.
If you are in a developed western country there are even parks with workout equipment if you can’t afford a gym or just need a workout place for the week.
After a quick internet search query, I found this website and app called Calisthenics Parks that attempts to list all the free outdoor workout spots. And guess what… There’s a spot close to my house that I intend to hit up right after this.
All you need to do is have the motivation and consistency to stick with it.
So I don’t want to hear any more excuses.
Now stop procrastinating and go get fit!
